You’re Fishmonger: Richard Lawson

I am passionate about providing my customers with a service that is of the very highest standards, I have always prided myself in sourcing only the freshest of produce from the most reputable suppliers. My fish is delivered daily from Scotland, Hull, Grimsby, Whitby and Cornwall; I also source direct from the famous Billingsgate Fish Market where I select my own shellfish and special order fish and seafood.

I started my life in the fish industry on London’s busy North End Road market working for the Curtis family, this was a business that existed for over 30 years, I can only describe this market as being as busy as a street can be, when a football stadium opens its doors and all the supporters come flooding out, it was great fun, very manic and sell, sell, sell. North End Road has many different cultures and so the range of fish we sold was huge, from single fish to entire boxes and special orders for shops and restaurants, so I can say that I have learnt a whole lot about FISH. These days I have invested in my own business here in Milton Keynes, The Fish Shop was formerly owned by Bruce Battams who established the business over the last 30 years serving customers in different towns in the Milton Keynes area, he himself designed the mobile fish shop which I can say he has done extremely well, paying great attention to detail, and his experience in the fish business can be appreciated best when working in the environment that he created, Thanks Bruce!

The Fish Shop, visits various areas in Milton Keynes (have a look at our Times and Places section), I provide a service that gives you the best range of fresh fish and seafood that you could hope for, I will clean the fish, fillet the fish and give you advise on anything you may need to know, I will order any special requirements that you may have and order quantities that you need. Above all I will make sure that your fish is the tastiest and freshest that you would expect, I may even be able to temp you into cooking with fish that you may not have had the courage to try before.
My new venture is to provide a service in which you can order your fish direct, and can have it delivered to your door, I have already built up a great customer base in the area’s that I visit, but would like to reach all the customers that cannot get to me, or live close enough to the areas in which I serve.
