Hake is the most elegant member of the cod family it is a long slim fish with two spiny dorsal fins, the flesh is soft and a slight pink colour may be apparent it has a slightly stronger taste than cod sometimes preferred by consumers. Hake can be baked, poached, grilled, or even deep fried in batter in the same way as Cod.
